Description
The Kogarah Town Square project successfully established new sustainability targets in construction, planning and design through the holistic implementation of ESD (Environmentally Sustainable Development) principles and policies.
Its innovation in sustainability extends from the planning policy adoption, the scale of the development, the close proximity to public transport nodes, and most noteworthy, the following urban and environmental design considerations:
- Building integrated photovoltaic cells forming Australia's largest solar powered medium density mixed use development;
- Inclusion of a sophisticated tertiary treatment stormwater system; and
- Provision of a suite of other energy and water conservation measures within the architectural layout and fittings supplied.
