Australian Property Development (APD), in conjunction with Deicke Richards Architects have undertaken a medium density residential infill (units) project in the inner suburb of Windsor, approximately 5 km from Brisbane’s CBD. The project demonstrates the importance of incorporating sustainable design elements and planning into infill projects as much as greenfield development.

Christie Walk

Christie Walk is a medium density co-housing development located in downtown Adelaide which combines many ecologically sustainable and community enhancing features.

It was initiated by Urban Ecology Australia as a demonstration project, to promote nature and people friendly urban development by example.

Aldinga Arts EcoVillage

This community development, built on 33 hectares of previously farmed land within the rural township area of Aldinga, is 40 minutes south of Adelaide. Sustainable design principles have been used throughout the development. 17 hectares will accommodate150+ dwellings. Through Community Title, purchasers own their plots outright, together with a share in the common land, farm and cultural facilities. Residents are obliged to respect by-laws requiring environmental and social responsibility. Houses must be energy efficient, include solar hot water provision and be served by a 10,000 litre rainwater tank. Purchasers are encouraged to communicate and consult with neighbours prior to building.
